A new poll conducted by Parade magazine reveals the funding priorities of everyday Americans. They are:
1. Feeding and sheltering the needy
2. Seeking cures for major diseases
3. Disaster relief
4. Animal welfare
I’m curious as to what this information might mean to funders. Is it better to have your funding priorities in line with issues the general public feels are most pressing, or would you have greater impact tending to areas that are not addressed through individual giving?
Parade says we’re experiencing a “compassion boom” fueled by individuals with specific giving strategies. As people who work in philanthropy, how do you personally fit into the rubric Parade provides? What are your personal funding priorities? Take the poll below or let us know your thoughts in the comments.
