Registration is now open for this year’s annual conference for the Forum network that will take place on July 23-25 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the Omni William Penn. We hope you are planning to join us for this great opportunity to network and learn with your regional association peers. The conference will kick off with lunch on Monday, July 23, and conclude with lunch on Wednesday, July 25.
An impressive lineup of speakers will inspire you and teach you, beginning with Dr. Peter Ditto’s opening presentation, “Why Can’t We Get Along?” Ditto will examine our increasingly divided and polarized world where civil conversation between those with opposing views is increasingly rare, and discuss ideas for what can be done to solve these issues in the workplace. The Bush Foundation’s “The Art of Hosting” workshop will provide participants with successful meeting facilitation strategies to have conversations that matter. Jeffrey Davis will delve into “The Creative Mindset at Work” with engaging, story-rich presentation and activities that challenge the idea that “creativity” is the sole province of artists and suggest instead that creativity involves a certain mindset, series of habits, and conditions in service of flexible, effective problem-solving. Our closing speaker, Teressa Moore Griffin, will help you “uncover the truth of who you really are” and motivate you to live and lead with a spirit of purpose.
Breakout topics include:
- The standardization of diversity data collection
- A session on “how-to” re: board engagement and board relations
- Regional giving studies (what is their best use?)
- Media training (why do I have to do this?)
- Small association management
- And many more to come!
There will be ample opportunities for structured networking and roundtable discussions including a new and improved format for Job Alikes. We are in the process of finalizing plans for outings to a baseball game, a kayak tour, dine arounds to great local restaurants, and a public art walking tour.
If you will be attending the annual PolicyWorks Institute after the conference, July 25-27, you can register in the same place as the annual conference. Registration fees are on par with previous years, $450 for the first registrant from a regional association and $375 for additional registrants.
Rooms are available at the Omni-William Penn at a discounted rate of $175/night for conference and PolicyWorks attendees. Book online now to reserve your room. This rate will be extended for 3 days before and after our programming for those building in extra time in Pittsburgh around the conference. The discounted room rate will only be available until June 30, 2012 so make your reservations now.
Free Wi-Fi will be available in guest rooms and public spaces if you are currently a member or join the Select Guest Loyalty Program. There is no charge to sign-up for this program. Wi-fi will also be available in the meeting space.
