RA CEO Transitions, Part II

On the heels of the announcement that Betsy Nelson and Sushma Ramen will be leaving the Assoication of Baltimore Area Grantmakers and Southern California Grantmakers, respectively, comes news of one more RA CEO’s departure. Iowa Council of Foundations’ (ICoF) Executive Director, Angie Dethlefs-Trettin, has taken a new position as the Director of Community Investment and Initiatives at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.

Hired in April of 2006 as the organization’s first staff person, Angie has helped to shepherd ICoF to become the sophisticated, responsive membership association it is today. Through her thoughtful leadership, ICoF has steadily enhanced member services, programs, collaborative work, operations and communications while also growing membership and supporting and expanding the Iowa Community Foundations and Youth Philanthropy Initiatives to be some of the most well-respected programs in the country.

Recently Angie has helped to implement a new strategic plan for ICoF, started two new VISTA programs for the philanthropic field, assisted in forming the Iowa Nonprofit Collaborative and created partnerships with key statewide organizations to support the foundation and nonprofit communities in efforts such as the Iowa Nonprofit Summit and the Plan Your Giving Iowa campaign.

The search for Angie’s successor will be led by a Search Committee of the ICoF board and will begin immediately. A position posting for the Executive Director role is now available via the ICoF website.

Angie will be greatly missed by the Forum network. We thank her for her active contributions and ever-present smile. We wish her the best of luck in her new position.
