DVG Strategic Plan Framework 2013-2015

Delaware Valley Grantmakers has spent much of the past year engaged in strategic planning. Based on what they learned, DVG has developed a framework articulated around which they will build their strategic plan. It envisions a Greater Philadelphia in which philanthropy is recognized as a constructive partner in solving problems and building a better future for the region.

Wisconsin Gives 2012

The Donors Forum of Wisconsin has released its latest regional giving study, the 2012 Wisconsin Gives report. This publication includes an overview of grantmaking in Wisconsin, providing benchmarks for grantmakers and information for the state’s nonprofit sector. New to the report is a review of the connection between philanthropy and government.  Additionally, this year’s report captures emerging trends in foundation giving, areas of funding interest, a listing of leading foundations by grants paid, and the social and economic impact of the state’s charitable sector. The report provides a first glimpse at the effects of the economic downturn on foundations and their giving.

2012 Grantmaker Rankings

Each year Minnesota Council on Foundations publishes lists of grantmaker rankings to enable grantmakers, nonprofits, and the public to better understand who are the largest funders in the state. Rankings are provided based on several different criteria, including grantmaker type, grants paid, and assets.  The latest rankings were released in October 2012.

Giving Forum: Fall 2012

Minnesota Council on Foundations has released the Fall 2012 issue of its quarterly newspaper, the Giving Forum, focused on answers, tips, and some dos and don’ts of grantseeking and grantmaking.  Even with the best of intentions, inefficiencies and stumbling blocks can strain interactions between grantmakers and nonprofits. What can grantmakers do to help smooth the process? And what can nonprofits do to increase the odds of receiving foundation funding?
